  6. INTRODUCTION:

  8.    Thank you for choosing CD Player for Windows. CD Player 
  9.    is distributed in two testware forms:
  10.  
  11.    The first, the larger of the two, contains all files, 
  12.    including VBRUN100.DLL, and a complete setup program.  
  13.    This larger file is approximately 314,000 bytes long 
  14.    in its zipped mode (due to size of VBRUN).
  15.   
  16.    The second, is much smaller as it contains only those
  17.    files needed to execute the program and its help file.
  18.    The second file assumes that the user has knowledge of 
  19.    both DOS and Windows, and can easily place the 
  20.    necessary files where they belog, by following the 
  21.    instructions here in this file.

  23.    The second file was created primarily to speed up 
  24.    download transfers for those who had a working knowledge
  25.    of their Windows system.  This file is approximately
  26.    114,000 bytes long.

  28.    If you have downloaded or acquired the condensed version 
  29.    of the zip, please follow the instructions below for 
  30.    installation.

  33. FOR USERS WITH THE SMALL ZIPPED VERSION (5 Files):

  35.    We assume that you know enough about directory trees
  36.    and structures that you will be able to carry the 
  37.    following out,...

  39.    If you don't have VBRUN100.DLL, you must acquire it 
  40.    from either a friend, or a service like Compuserve.
  41.    VBRUN100.DLL should be located in your Windows 
  42.    directory.
  43.  
  44.    The files included in this zip are:

  46.    CDPLAYER.EXE (Program File)
  47.    CDPLAYER.HLP (The CD Player Windows Help File)
  48.    MCI.VBX
  49.    PICCLIP.VBX
  50.    README.TXT (This File!)

  52.    Copy "Picclip.vbx" and "Mci.vbx" to your Windows\System 
  53.    directory.  The other three files, CDPLAYER.EXE, 
  54.    CDPLAYER.HLP, and README.TXT can be put in any
  55.    subdirectory you like.

  57.    That's all there is to it.  Just add it to one of your
  58.    Program Manager groups, and you're ready to go!

  60. FOR USERS WITH THE LARGE ZIPPED VERSION (11 Files):

  62.    This zip file contains all software necessary to do a  
  63.    regular Windows setup.  Unzip the file to a clean 
  64.    diskette.  This can be either a 3.5 " 720 or 1.44 MB
  65.    disk, or a High Density 5.25" Floppy.  All necessary 
  66.    files WILL NOT FIT ON A Double Sided/Double Density 
  67.    5.25" diskette.

  69.    Or, you can unzip the files to a clean directory on
  70.    your hard disk drive.

  86.    To install CD Player for Windows, go to the File or
  87.    Program Manager, choose the file menu, then the Run
  88.    menu option.  When the program prompts you for the file
  89.    name to run, type in either...

  91.    A:\setup (if your setting up from the "A" floppy drive)
  92.  
  93.    B:\setup (if you are installing from a "B" floppy drive)
  94.  
  95.       or...

  97.    (DriveLetter) :\ (DirectoryName) \setup (if you unzipped
  98.       to a hard disk directory.

  100.    Then follow the prompts as they come along.  Setup will
  101.    walk you through the installation, step by step.  All
  102.    defaults have been set for you, so if you're satisfied
  103.    with the choices that are presented, follow the 
  104.    instructions in the setup program.

  107. LIMITATIONS:
  108.  
  109.    CD Player, before it's registered, has one restriction.  
  110.    The program will only allow you to save 4 cataloged 
  111.    CD's.  Of course, this limitation, as well as the start 
  112.    up screen, will be eliminated upon registration.

  114.    Another limitation, purposely inserted, is that ANY
  115.    version of CD Player for Windows, regardless of 
  116.    whether or not it's registered, can only save 20
  117.    selected track for each CD.

  122.    You can register the basic program by printing the 
  123.    registration form from the intro screen, filling it 
  124.    out, and sending it with your payment of $24.95 for
  125.    just the registration, or $42.95 if you want the 
  126.    complete version with manual per registration (NY 
  127.    State residents please add sales tax) to:
